RBG 'sounded strong and cheerful' after documentary Oscar nomination

Betsy West and Julie Cohen, the filmmakers of "RBG" -- a CNN film -- said Tuesday they spoke to Ginsburg earlier that day, noting they were the ones who gave her the good news about the film.
West and Cohen said Ginsburg "sounded strong and cheerful" and said that she is writing opinions and "continuing to stay on top of work."
"We were excited to be the ones to give Justice Ginsburg the good news that RBG has been nominated for Best Documentary," the two said. "We reached her on the phone at her home in Washington this morning. She congratulated us and said the nomination was 'eminently well-deserved.' She sounded strong and cheerful and said she is writing opinions and continuing to stay on top of work."
Other movies nominated for best documentary include, "Free Solo," "Hale County This Morning, This Evening," "Minding the Gap" and "Of Fathers and Sons."
Ginsburg, 85, has been recovering from a December surgery where cancerous nodules were removed from her lung. The nodules were detected during tests following a fall she sustained in early November.
The liberal justice has been notably absent from the court while recovering, and recently canceled two events scheduled for the end of the month.
