Patton Oswalt donated to a man who trolled him and now he has a fan

Known to be a major critic of President Donald Trump, the actor made that obvious Wednesday when he responded to Trump's "BUILD A WALL & CRIME WILL FALL!" tweet.

"You like pomes? I like pomes too! Here's a pome I wroted," Patton tweeted. "ROSES ARE RED. TOMMY SHAW WAS IN STYX. YOU'RE GOING TO RESIGN. EAT A BUCKET OF D***S."

Twitter user Michael Beatty didn't take that too kindly.

"I just realized why I was so happy you died in Blade Trinity!" Beatty tweeted. "And you shoot basketball (like) the sawed off little man you are."

Oswalt apparently checked out Beatty's Twitter page and discovered he was having some rough times.

"This dude just attacked me on Twitter and I joked back but then I looked at his timeline and he's in a LOT of trouble health-wise," Oswalt tweeted. "I'd be pissed off too."

"The King of Queens" star then declared that Beatty had been "dealt some s****y cards" and suggested to his followers "let's deal him some good ones."

"Click and donate — just like I'm about to," Oswalt urged his more than 4 million followers.

Oswalt donated $2,000 to Beatty's GoFundMe page, which outlined a variety of health problems he said he's had, including sepsis and ketoacidosis.

As of Friday morning, almost $30,000 had been raised, well beyond the $5,000 goal being sought.

Beatty was moved and tweeted, "Patton. You have humbled me to the point where I can barely compose my words."

"You have caused me to take pause and reflect on how harmful words from my mouth could result in such an outpouring," Beatty tweeted. "Thank you for this and I will pass this on to my cousin who needs help. A cascade."

He also tweeted thanks to Oswalt and the other supporters.

"I'm not a man who ever cries but I had to wait to send this," Beatty said. "And to quote Stuart on Big Bang 'meat tonight'!"

Oswalt was a bit confused about why Beatty mentioned his cousin.

HuffPost reported that it talked to Beatty via email and he told the site his cousin donated $200, even though he too is struggling with a granddaughter recovering from a car accident.

"Between doctors' bills and attorney's fees, they have been without money. Yet he gave what little he had to help others," Beatty said. "I plan on visiting him Feb. 5 and donating $500 in person to help him. Patton started a cascade effect, and I intend to do what I can."

He also hailed the stand-up comedian to the publication.

"Patton is a very good man who has managed to transcend party politics to give me a new perspective regarding how individuals are and act versus the political mob mentality," Beatty said. "I now have new friends from both sides that have wished me well and made a point of political neutrality in their gestures and comments."

Funnyman Oswalt ribbed Beatty on Twitter a bit for getting so emotional.

"See, THIS is why compassion and forgiveness are the best — wait, you CRIED?!?," Oswalt tweeted. "You f***in' p***y! Donation CANCELLED."
