-- Turkish authorities have audio and visual evidence that shows journalist Jamal Khashoggi was killed inside the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul more than a week ago, a source familiar with the ongoing investigation into his disappearance told CNN.
-- Hurricane Michael's death toll has risen to at least 13, including five in Virginia and four in Florida. Hundreds of thousands are left without electricity, and emergency officials have no access to many towns.
-- Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of Cardinal Donald Wuerl, ending weeks of speculation and mounting anger over Wuerl's purported role in two clergy sexual abuse scandals. -- A hologram of Amy Winehouse is set to hit the road seven years after her death. Base Hologram has announced a partnership with Winehouse's estate to produce a concert tour to celebrate the singer's legacy. The Grammy winner died of accidental alcohol poisoning in 2011. She was 27.
--Texas Democrat Beto O'Rourke's Senate campaign announced a record-smashing haul of $38.1 million. It's the most aised in a quarter by a US Senate campaign. Last quarter, O'Rourke made headlines with what was then a record-breaking haul of $10.4 million.
-- Britain's Princess Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank in a ceremony in St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle, which also hosted the May wedding of Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
-- Sears' bankruptcy appears imminent. Sears Holdings, the parent company of Sears and Kmart, has to come up with $134 million by Monday. The most recent filing from Sears showed it had only $193 million in cash on hand as of August 4, the end of its last fiscal quarter. Having so little cash available would make it difficult for the former retail giant to pay its debt by a Monday deadline.
